On 21 February 2018, the EPSRC held a showcase at the Royal Society in London to promote the importance for EPSRC investments, in the context of UK prosperity. A number of EPSRC funded projects were selected to showcase their work as part of the visual backdrop to the event that also included panel discussions and debate.
The space was broken up into four Prosperity Outcomes and i-sense members held a small booth as part of the ‘healthy nation’ outcome to showcase the tools and digital technologies being developed to identify and prevent outbreaks of infectious disease, much earlier than ever before.
Throughout the event we spoke to people working in industry, government and research about the various components that make up i-sense projects.
Attendees who visited our exhibition booth had the opportunity to learn more about FluDetector, an online platform that uses Twitter content or Google search data to estimate influenza-like illness (flu) rates in England, our mobile phone-connected point-of-care tests, and our digital data dashboards.
