i-sense researchers and students have been offered an excellent opportunity to attend the seminar series "Research in Philosophy, Justice and Health Seminar 2015: The Right to Privacy", running from October to December 2015.
Led by i-sense Exploratory Project partners James Wilson and Benedict Rumbold from the UCL Department of Philosophy, the graduate level seminar series will pose questions of privacy and information control in healthcare. It will focus particularly on the challenges that “big data” creates for traditional ideas of consent and anonymisation, and how to balance the potential benefits of big data against risks to privacy.
The course will also include some i-sense related work and is a unique opportunity for i-sense researchers to reflect upon the ethical implications of their work and ensure the technologies they are developing manage these concerns.
Venue
The course meets on Mondays 11-1pm in the first floor seminar room, Philosophy Department, 19 Gordon Square, UCL.

The organisers would be happy for those involved with the i-sense project to attend some, or all of the seminars, without submitting any assessed work. They’ve offered places for up to 10 i-sense researchers to attend the lectures. This will be allocated on a first come, first served basis by returning an e-mail to Benedict Rumbold and James Wilson and copying in Neil Keegan.
