i-sense has been selected to represent UCL as a leading example of health generation and innovation for the MedCity launch.
Launched by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, MedCity is a major new initiative, which brings together UCLPartners, King’s Health Partners and Imperial College AHSC with Oxford, Cambridge and the Greater London Authority. This partnership aims to establish London and the Greater South East as a connected, world-leading, life sciences “golden triangle” by championing new areas of collaboration between academic, charitable, political and business institutions.
Big data and digital health were a key focus of discussions and i-sense are ideally positioned at the forefront of major breakthroughs in these areas. The Mayor announced funding of £2.92m for MedCity from the Higher Education Funding Council for England, and a further £1.2m funding from the Mayor of London’s office.
The launch of MedCity coincides with the release of the SLMS Enterprise publication, where the breadth and potential impact of i-sense research has also received significant attention. The SLMs publication showcases UCL’s School of Life and Medical Sciences most enterprising research including experience in industry collaboration and opportunities for future development.
