i-sense PhD student Evdokia Pilavaki has been awarded the UCL Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering's Cisco prize for her poster “Optical Sensing Device for the Detection of Infectious Diseases at the Point of Care”.
The poster presented her research on the development of mobile-phone connected diagnostic devices for the detection of infectious diseases.
Every year the UCL Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, gives two prizes to research students for their work (Cullen prize and Cisco prize). These are presented at the Departmental Research Poster Day and Mildner Memorial Lecture. The Cisco prize was established in 2014 by UCL EEE graduate John Manville, the Senior Vice President (Global Infrastructure Services) at Cisco and is awarded to the student for the best research poster related to the 'Internet of Everything'. This year the prize was awarded by Ian Pudney, the IT Director Cisco System.
Evdokia is working with i-sense on their Flagship 3 project to develop sensing systems to detect and identify bacteria and is also a PhD student in Prof. Andreas Demosthenous Analog and Biomedical Electronics research group.
