Chapman received his MChem Chemistry degree from the University of Southampton (2020) spending his final year with Dr Sam Thompson, synthesising small-molecule inhibitors to mediate therapeutically relevant protein-protein interactions.
Following this, Chapman moved to pursue a PhD under Dr Michael Thomas and Professor Vijay Chudasama at University College London. His research involves the design and synthesis of flexible, self-assembled nanomaterials capable of eliciting structural amplification, and triggerable release strategies in paper-based rapid tests and conventional plate-based assay formats for the development of quick, sensitive and cheap methods for detecting protein and molecular biomarkers of disease.
