PhD student in The Stevens Group since 2019 focused on biosensing, mainly on the development of lateral flow immunoassay technologies. Sara has a Bachelor in Biochemistry (2016) and a Master in Biotechonology (2018) both from the NOVA University of Lisbon. Previous research experience included an internship focused on down-stream technologies on the Biomolecular Engineering Lab, NOVA University of Lisbon (2015); the study of catalytic peptides during an Internship at Ulijn's Lab, Advanced Science and Research Center, New York University (2016); the development of nature-based peptide and protein scaffolds as enzyme mimetics (master thesis, 2018) and a position as research assistant studying hybrid materials for gas-sensing applications (2019), both at the Biomolecular Engineering Lab, NOVA University of Lisbon.
